January 8, 1999, Workshop

"Real-life experience relative to the initial placement of Maghrebail on the Casablanca Stock Market" by Mohamed Tehraoui, Administrator and Managing Director of Assalaf Chaâbi.

During this workshop the issue debated did not concern the factual or technical aspect as much as he question of the changing role of the manager in Morocco. In other words, the changes taking place in parallel with the transformation of the economy and in the world of the enterprise. At the heart of this issue what emerges is a genuinely new awareness and process of expression. The effect produced by the recent opening of a stock market is symbolic of a deep evolution in economic and managerial culture. But in what direction is the wherewithal of the manager turning to respect with the capital involved?
Indeed, not an easy question to develop. Especially when the manager is at the heart of corporate history and when, being in a state of quasi "merger" with the shareholder, he finds himself part and parcel of the capital over which he no longer exerts even a symbolic control.
